May 23, 2015 MARTHA COLE
Quilt National 2015
May 23 – September 7, 2015 The Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio
Congratulations to Martha Cole for being juried into this prestigious international art-quilt exhibition.
Her 'Leaf Skeleton' was one out of 86 quilts selected for this exhibit from nearly 1,000 submissions. Quilt National ’15 is the nineteenth international juried competition for new, innovative art quilts. At the conclusion of the exhibit on Sept. 7, many of the quilts will travel for two years on tour at galleries and museums throughout the country.
Jurors were quilters Rosalie Dace (Durban, South Africa), Ann Johnston (Lake Oswego, OR) and museum curator Judy Schwender (Paducah, KY).
As a statement about her work Cole said, “I am currently working with the concept of “active witnessing,” celebrating the beauty inherent within the irregularities of natural organic growth patterns."
