June 29, 2013 MARTIN TAGSETH Wood Fired Ceramics and Kiln Construction at University of Regina May 7 - June 20, 2013
Internationally known for wood-fired ceramics and kiln construction, Martin Tagseth instructed a special course for the University of Regina's Department of Visual Arts.
Tagseth taught principals of ceramic kiln construction and the class constructed an outdoor coffin/train-style wood kiln as a permanent installation at the University. Students created ceramic work that was then fired in the kiln. Tagseth's teaching also included historic aesthetics of wood-fired ceramics as well as contemporary wood-firing practices.
