October 28, 2014 HEATHER M. CLINE
Lieutenant Governor's Arts Award
October 28, 2014
Congratulations to Heather Cline! She was awarded the Saskatchewan Lieutenant Governor’s Award in the Arts & Learning category on October 28, 2014; and received a limited edition bronze sculpture by Saskatchewan artist Joe Fafard and a cash prize.
Cline is the creator of the Artist In The School Distance Program, along with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education and Regina Catholic Schools. Created in 2005, the program has evolved into a permanent LIVE arts offering, giving students and teachers throughout the province the opportunity to work with professional artists in the areas of dance, drama, music and the visual arts.
She also created TV Studio In A Box, a technology kit that allows programs to originate from most any school in the province.
Presented by the Saskatchewan Arts Board, the Arts and Learning Award recognizes and celebrates a Saskatchewan educator who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the arts and learning by means of: innovative approaches to education in the arts through exemplary programs, instruction, an art practice, or partnerships with artists or arts organizations that foster the creative and intellectual development of young people through education and experiences in the arts and; the engagement of students in the exploration of contemporary artistic ideas or creative experiences that stimulate their understanding of the arts.
